After ten years of cycling success, we'll show the whole of London your super pedalling power, used to save and support the lives of countless people affected by cancer.

Our Charities

We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future.

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to women, their families and friends affected by cervical cancer and cervical cell changes. Our mission is to see cervical cancer eliminated in the UK and, in the meantime, provide much needed support to those affected by cervical cancer.

Ovarian Cancer Action is working towards a world where no woman dies of ovarian cancer. We’re investing in research projects across three vital areas: prevention, earlier diagnosis and more effective treatments. Improvements in each of these areas will transform the lives of women today and for generations to come.

To take part in Women V Cancer Ride the Night 2021, we ask you to raise a minimum of £100 each for Women V Cancer.

This can make a real difference for people affected by breast, ovarian and cervical cancers.

£150

£150 would fund Jo’s “Ask the Expert” service for a day, buy a bottle of serum for Ovarian Cancer Action’s scientists to culture cells in the lab and enable Breast Cancer Now to send out 500 leaflets to doctor surgeries in the UK promoting breast checking and highlighting the symptoms of breast cancer, so that more women can catch it early before it spreads.

£500

£500 will educate over 1,000 women, including those in high risk groups, about ovarian and cervical cancers and their symptoms, while funding one day’s use of specialised microscopes for research into how breast cancer develops and spreads.

£1,000

£1,000 could enable OCA scientists to detect the types of DNA at high risk of ovarian cancer and fund two specialist nurses on the Breast Cancer Now helpline for a day, while also funding the recruitment and training of one volunteer for Jo’s helpline, who will go on to support hundreds of women per year.

Join the 500 club!

If you raise £500 or more by 29th April 2021, you will get a free official 500 club cycling jersey.

Please take a look at our Dream Journal for seasonal fundraising ideas to fuel your inspiration. We will also send you these in the lead up to the challenge.

Itinerary

From 6pm

Check-in Opens | Royal Windsor Racecourse

Check-in to Ride the Night 2021 from 6pm at the beautiful Royal Windsor Racecourse which marks both the start and end of our challenge, with the first wave of cyclists setting off at 9pm.

There's free parking with plenty of space at the racecourse for all participants (please feel free to bring your campervan if you'd like to camp here after you've conquered your ride).

We'll also have a bag drop, stalls for each of our amazing Women V Cancer charities and stands with refreshments available for you and your supporters to purchase.

To mark the Women V Cancer 10-year anniversary, we have a superhero theme, so all our entertainment will celebrate the wonders your super pedalling power can do for people affected by cancer.

We'll have themed pre-event warm-ups, refreshments and entertainment, including motivational music and speeches.

Take this opportunity to relax and make friends with your fellow Ride the Night super heroes, before you're called to your start wave. With thousands of you all dressed up in bright outfits, it's also a great time for a selfie or ten!

From 9pm

Staggered Starts

You will be set off in groups of 75 women at two-minute intervals to take on your 50km or 100km route around London. You can select your distance and start time when registering (9.00pm, 9.30pm, 10 pm or 10.30pm). Each start wave has a limited number of spaces, so please register now to secure your preferred start time.

Both the 50km and 100km route will take you past loads of iconic London landmarks, which will look even more beautiful all lit up at night.

The 50km route won't be circular but will end in the lights of Central London (venue TBC) - and of course, a crew of wonderful Ride Makers and staff will be there to congratulate you as you pedal those last few metres! There, our free shuttle busses will drive you and your bike from the finish point back to Windsor. If you would prefer to travel directly from your starting point back home, please feel free to make your own travel arrangements.

We'll have Feed Stations along the way (details TBC) with a variety of tasty, free snacks and drinks (with vegan and gluten free options available) to keep you energised throughout the challenge. Each Feed Station will also have first aid support, bike mechanics and toilet facilities.

Ride the Night is not a race and there are no event timings. We anticipate that faster cyclists will complete the 100km route in about five hours, whilst slower cyclists will take up to ten hours. The 50km route should take around three to five hours.

The cut off time is 7am on Sunday morning, but no-one will be left behind, as we will have a sweeper van behind the final group of cyclists.

FAQs

Do I have to dress up?

No, the superhero theme is purely optional.

As long as you wear a hi-viz vest (we will give this to you when you check-in at the event), you can wear whatever you like, given that you can cycle safely in it.

What's the Ride the Night London 2021 route?

For all the amazing serial Ride the Nighters who have joined us in the past, the 100km route will be very similar to the one you have conquered on previous challenges.

The 50km route won't be circular but will end in the lights of Central London (venue TBC) - and of course, a crew of wonderful Ride Makers and staff will be there to congratulate you as you pedal those last few metres!

We'll have free shuttle busses to drive you and your bike from the finish point back to Windsor.

Both routes are well lit and on tarmac. However, you will still need to have your bike lights on throughout your cycle and to keep spare batteries to hand.

*Please note: both routes are subject to change.

Will there be a Ride the Night in Edinburgh or any other cities in 2021?

No, there will only be one ride in London next year on 29th May 2021.

If you were registered for Ride the Night Edinburgh 2020 or Ride the Night London 2020, we encourage you to transfer your place from our cancelled event to Ride the Night London 2021.

You can easily transfer all the money you've raised to your Women V Cancer Ride the Night London 2021 fundraising account, so it counts towards your 2021 target.
